Insignia A Sports Tourer VXR 2.8T V6 - EBC Front Brake Pads (355mm)

EBC Redstuff™

  • EBC Brakes’ Redstuff is a premium NAO (Non-Asbestos Organic) ceramic-granule enhanced brake pad.
  • Ceramic pads are NON-METALLIC (therefore non-magnetic) and contain ZERO steel fiber, which is what causes brake dust and fast rotor wear.
  • EBC Redstuff has always been fully compliant with ecological and environmental demands and includes no toxic ingredients such as lead, nickel, copper, or antimony sulfides, and certainly no asbestos as the NAO prefix indicates.
  • Carrying the prestigious “Leaf Mark” with the highest N rating, recognized for its superior environmental safety.
  • Redstuff is the EBC premium low dust pad for fast street driving on all types of cars.
  • There is always “Some:” dust from brakes as they wear but the major advantage of the EBC range is that we use zero steel fiber in our pads and instead use less aggressive aramid fibers such as Twaron®  and Kevlar® which are easy to wash off wheels and do not etch into wheel lacquers or alloy
  • Redstuff is an aramid fiber ceramic particle-enhanced premium brake material. We do NOT use ceramic fibers in any of our pads. Redstuff is free of sulphides or lead and a low dust material, and fully ECE R 90 brake safety tested and approved.
  • EBC Redstuff is also a long-wearing pad and as such takes approx 500Kms to fully bed down and show its full performance. To assist the bed-in, however, all EBC pads are surface coated with our Brake-in ™ pad brake in accelerator compound.
EBC Yellowstuff™
  • EBC yellows are ECE Brake safety tested which means they must work perfectly from cold at least as good or better than stock pads.
  • When Yellowstuff see some heat (which is not tested for in the ECE R 90 brake safety regulations) they really show their pedigree. On Japanese cars built with lower friction FF-rated pads these deliver a full grade higher stopping and on German cars built with GG these are about the only aftermarket pads that will match or beat the pretty good German OE spec pads and that takes some doing.
  • High-efficiency performance pad for high friction and improved stopping power.
  • Not only a high friction pad but very resistant to heat and lots of heavy braking means that Yellowstuff has been used with great success in fast street cars and Police vehicle brakes alike.
  • EBC Yellowstuff was upgraded during 2021 to remove copper from the mix to comply with environmental legislations and as the new mix lasts longer it is not now being suggested as a track material due to the longer bedding in process required. On the street, bedding happens naturally in the first 100-200 miles of urban use but for those drivers wishing to arrive at the track with new pads and enjoy their day, our current suggestion is to use the Bluestuff formulation for track day driving both front and rear.
  • Because of its huge heat range, the applications where EBC Yellowstuff will deliver benefits range from fastest street use on higher horsepower cars on most street-based cars and even as a brake upgrade on Trucks and SUV. Yellowstuff is especially appreciated on Trucks for towing and heavy loads and where wheel and tire oversize upgrades have been fitted. In trackday/drift/hillclimb races where earlier Yellow blends were suggested,  although track capable, is no longer recommended for track use on most cars due to its long bed-in process.

EBC Bluestuff™

  • Bluestuff serves dual purposes as an exceptional fast street pad for premium fast street use and an entry-level trackday (lapping) pad. Its remarkable characteristics make it stand out. Firstly, it beds in swiftly. With just 5 stops from 70 mph to 20 mph during street use, followed by a cooldown period, then 5 more stops from 80 mph to 20 mph, the process is complete. In fact, this bedding process is so efficient that it might not even require those steps; the pads self-bed during the first few miles of driving, feeling robust right from installation.
  • During this initial period, the brakes operate silently—no hissing, squealing, or grinding noises typically associated with many high-performance semi-metallic pads. It’s truly a pleasure to drive with them. After just a few miles, these pads demonstrate their pedigree as the most advanced blend and highest-performing street blend ever produced by EBC. Comparisons to past products or old blogs are irrelevant; Bluestuff represents a new standard. It’s a genuine high-end fast street and track pad.
  • Due to Bluestuff having excellent cold friction and being very controllable, this compound has quickly become the brake pad of choice for performance road car drivers in USA and Asia markets where R90 homologation does not apply. More recently, EBC is pleased to announce that Bluestuff has passed extensive road-focused testing and gained R90 approval on most E.U. fitments, making it unique in being the first truly track-focused pad which is also perfectly legal for use on the public roads across Europe. There is no requirement for E.U. customers to inform their insurance company following the fitment of R90-approved pads.
  • EBC’s track and race materials are exceptionally kind on brake discs, making them especially desirable for modern performance cars that feature complex and hugely expensive 2-piece brake disc systems from the factory. Customers report that EBC track and race pads are far kinder to brake discs than comparable granite-like semi-metallic pads, which may last longer but take the rotors with them
  • For customers with experience of EBC’s widely acclaimed Yellowstuff material, Bluestuff boasts a similar friction profile but with a usefully higher friction coefficient across the now larger working range, feeling much like you’d imagine Yellowstuff to feel after a double hit of espresso. Bluestuff has the added benefit of much faster bed in time and has a high friction coefficient without feeling grabby, taking things up a notch from EBC’s Yellowstuff material by bringing superb pedal modulation to a track pad with even greater fade resistance.
Bluestuff NDX is a superb 0.52 Mu compound entry-level race pad that is R90 approved for almost every application. A great choice for turn-up and race track events due to its short bed in time and medium plus lifetime. This compound has been the choice of the BMW cup series for several seasons.

EBC Orangestuff™

  • The new EBC Orangestuff Pad is a brand new race pad and is specially designed for track only use. The deep 'V' grooves in the pad are used to catch dirt, debris and dust as well as aiding with venting.
  • These will not be R90 tested for road use and are only manufactured for racing and track use. The Orangestuff Pad uses the same interlayer system which is used in the Bluestuff NDX range, this ensures a much stronger bond in the compound for increased strength for racing harsh conditions. This will allow for 3 times the strength against the normal road use organic pad.
  • Orangestuff pads are pre-scorched which means that are already bedded in compared to the ordinary pad but we advise that a minimal bedding procedure is done to marry the pad to the disc.
  • Two laps at intermediate speed is advised, followed by a further two using heavier braking.
  • PLEASE NOTE, THESE PADS ARE FOR TRACK USE ONLY, THEY ARE NOT R90 APPROVED

RP-X™

  • Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-X™ possesses a high friction level of 0.55 between 0 – 750°C (Ambient – 1400°F) and achieves a 100% brake effect from cold. This makes RP-X™ an excellent choice for sprint racing or hill climb events, where full brake performance is essential without requiring any ‘warming up’, but also makes RP-X™ well suited to any type of circuit use where a high initial bite and powerful brake response is desirable.
  • Made 100% in EBC Brakes’ Bristol, UK pad factory
  • Stainless steel backing plates (reduced heat conduction, no paint)
  • Backplates feature Nucap® NRS® hook pad retention system
  • Excellent pad life with moderate disc life
  • NOT R90 approved for road use in European markets

RP-1™

  • EBC Brakes Racing’s dedicated motorsport pad RP-1™ pairs high-performance with unprecedented modulation and control, resulting in a track pad that feels uniquely different to the competition and allows drivers to extract every last tenth from each and every braking zone.
  • Designed for vehicles driven hard on track, RP-1™ possesses a moderately high friction level of 0.45 between 100 – 750°C (200 – 1400°F). The more progressive response characteristic of RP-1™ makes it well suited for inherently ‘over-servoed’ vehicles where a softer pad material is desirable to allow greater finesse when on the brakes.
  • EBC Racing would like to emphasise that it is not a case of RP-1™ being ‘less good’ than RP-X™, rather it is ‘different’ and designed to provide a distinctly different response characteristic (less aggressive bite) which some drivers may prefer.
